Rodrigo Duran
Licensed Profressional Counselor
Rodrigo is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. His educational
background consists of Bachelor of Science in Psychology 2006, and a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in counseling, 2014. He is currently a 4-year PhD student in Clinical Psychology working on his dissertation and preparing for PhD candidacy. Psychology and counseling have been Rodrigo’s career path and purpose.
His experience spans 18 years in the mental health field, since 2006 when he obtained his first job on the field as a qualified mental health professional. Since then, he has obtained experience working with children, teens, adults and geriatric clients in different settings, including outpatient mental health facilities, ORR refugee shelters for unaccompanied minors, and group settings of different modalities through Batterers Intervention Program, with a focus on domestic abuse and anger management and a practicum focused on substance abuse at the Valley Counsel as he obtained his Masters. Rodrigo is fluent in English and Spanish and culturally sensitive to his clients specific and unique needs. Rodrigo has lived in California and Texas in the US, and in Queretaro and Guanajuato in Mexico.
"My theoretical orientations are evidenced based therapies and theories that evolved from trauma focused, cognitive behavioral, humanist, existential, rational-emotive, dialectic-behavioral, narrative and positive psychology philosophies.
Resilience and compassion are at the core of my style of counseling.
Rodrigo considers himself an autodidact with more than one dimension and layers to him. In his spare time, he enjoys gravel cycling, traveling, and learning to play the Telecaster and Shakuhachi. He likes reading, writing and drawing. Rodrigo enjoys spending time with his wife and his two sons.
